The Entire History Of You

This episode of Black Mirror explores the potential weakness of the human mind when we are given access to our entire existence. Anxiety across our society would be so much worse and self-consciousness would be amplified to a ridiculous degree. This segment of the show focuses on one man and the negative psychological effects that the grain has on him.
Paranoia can drive someone to obsession. It stems from self-consciousness and irrational fear, overthinking every single aspect of life, which the grain enables humans to do on a whole different level. You can get stuck redoing a memory over and over again and question each detail of an encounter that already happened and is no longer in your control. The protagonist, Liam, is very self-conscious during his interview and afraid to speak his mind. It is normal to be nervous but the ability to look back could potentially create a much more anxiety-driven person, like we see in Liam during his interview and at the dinner party. In the dinner scene, Jonas discusses the stage in a relationship where “You start obsessing over the tiniest of details, god knows you need something to talk about”. Basically, when relationships get weaker, you have to start grasping at straws to find the happiness that used to drive them to stay together.
I, clearly, I do not agree to have this privileged mind and less power to revive all the moments of your life. With that we lose control and we will all end up or turn crazy or throw us the device of the ear.
