Discussion essay - Carbonell, Marina

Language is one of the most important invent that humans were able to create in our history. Because of that we can comunicate clearly between us and make our relations easier. There are too many languages around the world to comunicate. In one hand, we have that in some places you are able to speak two different languages and this can improve your vocabulary, your way to say the things and can comunicate with more people. But on the other hand, in schools make us to learn deaplythese two or different languages and in some cases you can mix up the different grammar or vocabulary. All in all, I think that you have to learn as much languages as you can, because this can improve the way you comunicate. But you have to have preference with those languages that most of people speaks and also the lenguage of your country.

Opinion essay

Over the time there have been many evolutions. In my opinion the telephone is one of the best things that human has invented. The telephone make possible our communication with people who are far away. The transports are an important advance for the world and from my point of view one of the better things that there are invented too. Internet has marked an advance with technology. Personally, I think that internet is a positive thing if you use it adequately. The problem becomes when people makes an excessive use of the internet. I feel like people isolates himself when they spend to much time with the internet and this is not a positive thing for the relationship with their families and friends. Furthermore, in my view, some children has internet so many youngs and they aren’t enough mature to make a responsible use from the internet and social networks. In conclusion, internet makes our social life richer or poorer depending of the way of use. Always we will make our ...
Communication between people is vital. Languages help us to interact with other people, but not everybody talk the same idiom. So speaking two or more languages it benefit us and  increase a globalized world. Although, being bilingual improve our communication with other civil we don't born knowing any language. We are used to grow up speaking our mother tongue.  So when we're child we only speak one idiom. If we want extend our commuication knowledge we have to study and that involve money. However, at these days a lot of school teaches different idioms. But if you don't want to study you can read books in that language, see TV programs... The fact of speaking two languages benefits you to travell outside your country and could communicate without sign, make easy getting a job, and others. Personally, I consider that speaking more than one language is a pleasure of the communication, because you can understand other types of idioms and you can travel wherever you w...

Dialogue

Marta and David, two teachers, are discussing the rights and wrongs of Informations and Communication Technology (ICT) as a school subject. Marta: David, I think that these year we have to incorporate ICT as a school subject. The students of this century are tied to the technology and a subject like these will motivate them. David: I don't think so, they spend most of the day hooked on phones and screens playing games and go online on different apps like Instagram and others. If we put these subject they won't pay attention in class because they are gonig to stay all the hour with their phones. Am I wrong? Marta: Oh, looking by this way... you are right. But if we don't allow the phones at class? They will have to work with laptops or with the school computers, some computer ban the entrance of some websites. David: Oh Marta! Good idea! The Entire History Of You

This episode of Black Mirror explores the potential weakness of the human mind when we are given access to our entire existence. Anxiety across our society would be so much worse and self-consciousness would be amplified to a ridiculous degree. This segment of the show focuses on one man and the negative psychological effects that the grain has on him. Paranoia can drive someone to obsession. It stems from self-consciousness and irrational fear, overthinking every single aspect of life, which the grain enables humans to do on a whole different level. You can get stuck redoing a memory over and over again and question each detail of an encounter that already happened and is no longer in your control. The protagonist, Liam, is very self-conscious during his interview and afraid to speak his mind. It is normal to be nervous but the ability to look back could potentially create a much more anxiety-driven person, like we see in Liam during his interview and at the dinner party. In the di...

The Entire History of You - Marina Carbonell

As we can see on this episode, the life-replay is a gadget to improve your life, is a thing that is in your ear and can make you keep the things that you have seen trough your eyes to analyse the things you have done and your daily life. But personally, I think that this gadget is completely unethical and harmful. First of all, I reckon that this for me would be a harmful gadget because I would replay all the good times I have passed throug and I wouldn’t appreciate the new ones. On the other hand, with this gadget we could remember every good moments of our lives, but also the bad ones and learn of those; but I think that you leave the things only once, and your feelings on a determinate moment you are not going to be able to repeat it never again. To sum up, I don’t agree that live-replay is a good gadget for humans, and more more I thing that If this was real we will all get crazy. Marina Carbonell Pel

INFORMAL E-MAIL

Hi Lucy, What's up? Tell me about that boyfriend you have!! This weekend I'm free and it would be good to see you. What about if we meet this friday??  Oh Lucy, you won't believe what's happening to me. I have been having strange dreams lately. They're all different, but the last one was absolutely terrifying. It starts in my house, and it's really dark. There are all these dirty clothes and trash everywhere. I was just sitting on the couch, watching TV. Suddenly, the TV went off. But I didn't give it importance, I thought it was a simple power outage. I turned it on but the lights didn't turn on. I gave up and walked to my room.  I decided to lay in my bed and play with my phone. Before an hour I felt asleep. Suddenly a voice woke me up, that voice said to me, "Don't be afraid of me", I didn't see anybody, but the voice once again said, "WHY ARE YOU SCARED? WHY?". Then everything around me was red as the voice said,...

SALARIES (MARINA CARBONELL)

Good evening ladies and gentleman. First of all, I want to thank you for having me today and for letting me express my ideas, I am very pleased. When the director of this conference gave me the opportunity to talk in front of you I didn’t think twice about it, but when the day was getting closer I got nervous because I didn’t know how to start and what I was going to  say, but  I am going to try to do the best I can. When I got my first job I was so excited, I was getting  older, and  I was so proud about it.  Nowadays , I think back to when I started and I laugh. How innocent I was! As a child I thought that everybody was happy about their own jobs and everybody had the same salaries. But when I was growing up I saw the social  injustices  and how powerful people have the control of everyone and you can not say anything.  Can anyone explain  to me  why ladies have  fewer  salaries than gentleman? I  always have thougth...

Can I have your attention. We are all here today to realise something special. Something fun, enjoyable and memorable. The 18th birthday of my best friend. I have known Luna for more than 10 years and during that time, we have had many moments of fun, adventure and madness. At any time, we always seemed to find a way to get ourselves into trouble. We have seen each other become who we are today ,you have helped me to improve myself and also when I was bad and I needed a hug. We have had some really great times together: remember our trip to Menorca, that was funny, all the parties and I've lost count of how many times I've cried with laughing with you.  Anyone who knows you, knows that you want the best for your frends ans always you arethere when we need you. So Luna thanks for the great times and for being my friend. I hope taht you enjoy your b-day day. Happy Birthday.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen!  I'm very pleased to be here to talk about my friend Judit. Today is her birthday and she turns 18 and I'm going to talk about our friendship.  I would like to start by saving some special moments with him. I remember that we started going to the same swimming pool and we met there, and from this moment, only the distance separated us, because in spite of the kilometers, we were inseparable. Besides, this year we still see oruselves very frequently. Thanks to him many good things have happened to me, and I'm very grateful for everything that she has done for me. Judit is one of the best persons that I meet, because she is the only person that I know that she will never fail me and that she always will be able to help me in everything. And please, ask me any questions and I try to do my best answer. Thank you very much for your attention. Good night.  QUEROL, BELEN.

Movie Review - Mark Smithson

8 mile 8 mile is an American movie, filmed in 2002 and directed by Curtis Hanson. This is a semi-autobiographical movie of Jimmy ‘B-Rabbit’ Smith Jr,  best known as Eminem. The movie starts when ‘B-Rabbit’ and his dysfunctional family move to 8 Mile Road which is a neighborhood of Detroit. This wasn’t an easy life for neither of them. They almost got evicted and despite ‘B-Rabbit’ is a talented rapper he gets humiliated several times due to his lack of confidence. Things got worse when he beats his manager, who also represented the enemy gang, after he discovers him having sex with his girlfriend.   He finally gets revenge gaining confidence and doing what he best does, killing the beat. This is a well directed movie that shows the beginning of Eminem’s success. The only fault I find is the ending, because it doesn’t shows you how he finally succeeds. It is a great movie and I would highly recommend it specially if you are an Eminem’s fan. Mark Smiths...

Review: WAR HORSE

War Horse is an american drama and war film. It's directed by Steven Spielberg and the main actors are Jeremy Irvine (Albert), Emily Watson and Tom Hiddleston. This film explains the story of a boy called Albert and Joey (his horse), band everything changes with the First World war. Albert's father sells Joey to the British army to fight in the front. Due to its courage it manages to survive every day. Albert cannot forget his friend and leaves his home to fight in the war of France. There he search non-stop for Joey to bring it to his home. What I liked about this film is that represents the love between humans and animals. A negative aspect; it's a film with an obvious ending. I would recommend War Horse to people who like animals and the war movies. Querol, Belén
